The IEEE/IET International Symposium on Communication Systems, Networks and Digital Signal Processing (CSNDSP) has been running biennial since 1998 and growing in size and success each edition. Now it normally attracts about 200 delegates from around the world. It has been recognised as an international forum to present and exchange research findings and discuss future research topics in the fields of communication systems, communications networks, digital signal processing and other related areas. CSNDSP offers the opportunities for researchers to participate in organising workshops, tutorials, and open discussions in upcoming research topics. Papers accepted for presentation are published in IEEEXplore while selected papers are published in prestigious sponsoring journals.
CSNDSP 2022 was the 13th edition of this symposium: the event celebrated its 25th anniversary. CSNDSP 2022 was hosted in the world heritage city of Porto, Portugal.
On Wednesday 20 July 2022 at 14:00 GMT, TeraFlow was presented on Plenary Talk 02 at Auditorium II in Dr. António Cupertino de Miranda Centro de Congressos. The session was chaired by Monica Figueiredo, Polytechnic Institute of Leiria and Stanislav Zvanovec, Czech Technical University. Our TeraFlow colleague Paolo Monti from Chalmers University of Technology presented the project in the talk entitled “Optical Transport Networks in the 5G Era”. As optical technologies are the de-facto choice for transport networks in several 5G scenarios, the talk addressed some open issues in the design and operation of optical transport networks. The topics included multi-technology network design and service provisioning, network slicing, network programmability, and network automation amongst others. Finally it concluded with an overview of the challenges we can expect when looking at beyond 5G scenarios.
